"The ability to grab opportunities"

"The ability to grab opportunities"

Reading Ries and Trouts Horse Sense made me think of all the boys in school who had consistently stood first in class, year after year. I have not heard of most of them for a long, long time. Some joined the IFS (Indian Foreign Service) and have yet to become ambassadors. Some joined the private sector and have yet to become CEOs. By 55, they should have. Some became doctors and lawyers. What put me into this reverie was Riess statement that in the dairy, cream rises to the top. In daily life, its generally not true. It's mostly milk at the top of the corporate bottle.
Top executives come from the middle of the IQ curve. As the college president said to the faculty, "Be nice to your A students because they will come back and be your colleagues, but be exceptionally nice to your B and C students because they will come back and give us a new auditorium and a new science building." Top executives may come from the middle of the IQ curve. Peter McColough, former chairman of Xerox, made the same point about his Harvard School class of 1949. The record of accomplishment corresponds negatively with the standing of the class. The top people did not do that well. The one-third in the middle did. The guys who got the highest marks tended to be in the middle in accomplishment.
Why is this ? Why does success in the classroom generally not correlate with success in a profession ? The smarter people are, the more they depend on themselves. After all, they know everything. They depend only on themselves to get ahead. Less intelligent people are more likely to look for others to help them up the ladder and to look for opportunities and grab them.
Opportunities do not just arise in the environment. They are not presented to us by others, as the earlier incidents show. They can be inherent in us. They can be accidents that we may take to be calamities but that we can turn into opportunities.
A young singer with a fine soprano voice was assigned to perform 'The End of a Perfect Day' for admiring relatives. When his adolescent voice cracked and broke at the family gathering, he discovered he had the ability to make people laugh. The singer-cum-comedian was Bob Hope!
Moral: Believe in yourself first to succeed in life!

The Amla or the Indian Gooseberry.....its mystical effects

http://readnewsforchange.blogspot.com/2011/06/gooseberry-juice.html

Having high amounts of Vitamin C, Nicotonic Acid, Vitamin B-1, Iron, and Calcium-- gooseberry juice remains a popular tonic consumed across the globe. 81.2% of gooseberry fruit is water, thus it is a very good source of skin moisturizing, providing effective beauty remedies. What more....8.3% of it is Glucose. The juice has also got adequate amounts of Fibers, Carbohydrates and Proteins. Indian gooseberry juice contains the highest amount of Vitamin C.
The scientific names of this fruit juice are Amlica Embillicus and phyllanthus emblica. The fruit is popularly known as Amla in Hindi. Other names are Aonla, Aola, Amalaki, Amla-berry, Dharty, Aamvala, Aawallaa, Embelic, Nellikai, Nillika, and Usareekai . A popular blend which is preferred for drinking purpose is Gooseberry and Mint Cordial.

Origin
Apart from having their origin in India, the gooseberries have been grown in Britain
since the time of Henry Vlll. There is also an ancient belief narrating how fairies would
shelter from danger in the prickly bushes, and hence gooseberries became
known as fayberries. Gooseberry juice was also used as a medicine in the treatment
of fevers and in the sixteenth century they were recommended to plague victims. In the
north of England, gooseberry clubs were popular, with members fiercely competing
for the varieties that produced the biggest, best and juiciest fruit of the year.

Sacred Importance of Indian Gooseberry
It has even been scientifically verified that gooseberry juice has one of the richest
and most documented legacies of any fruit juice known today. In fact, the juice
is fondly addressed as the “Nurse”, the “Great Rejuvenator”, and the “Juice of Immortality”
for centuries, due to its numerous healing properties and its ability to nourish the body
on all levels.
Being more popular in the fruit form, gooseberry is nearly spherical shaped
light greenish yellow with 6 vertical stripes or furrows. Having a bitter-sour taste,
this fruit is claimed to be more fibrous than most of the other fruits. However,
it cannot be consumed raw in vast quantities. In Hinduism, it is regarded as a
sacred tree and worshipped as Mother Earth in India.
Benefits of Gooseberry Juice
Gooseberry juice is a natural, efficacious, and an anti-oxidant with the richest natural source of Vitamin C. It also contains cytokine like substances identified as zeatin, z. riboside, z. nucleotide. Gooseberry juice is extremely beneficial for treating ailments and availing several health benefits. It is even used in Unani and Ayurvedic systems to administer various health related complexities including Fever, Liver Disorder, Indigestion, Anemia, Heart Complaints and Urinary Problems. The details can be viewed as:
  • The antibacterial and astringent properties of gooseberry juice prevent infection and help in the healing of ulcers.
  • It is used as a laxative to relieve constipation in piles.
  • It is used in the treatment of leukorrhea and artherosclerosis.
  • The juice is referred to in ancient text as the best medicine to prevent aging.
  • It is a very strong rejuvenative which is believed to be the richest
  • natural source of anti-oxidant vitamin C (with up to 900 mg/100g of pressed juice). Vitamin C acts as an anti-oxidant and can help to rid the body of dangerous molecules called free radicals. This important vitamin is also necessary for the synthesis of collagen. Blood vessels, tendons, ligaments, and bones-- all require collagen. Another benefit of Vitamin C is the part it plays in helping to synthesize norepinephrine, a neurotransmitter which helps maintain brain function and mood. Vitamin C can also help to lower blood pressure, maintain healthy immune functions, promote good dental health, and aid in the healing of wounds.
  • Another anti-oxidant found in gooseberry juice is superoxide dismutase. SOD (superoxide dismutase) is an important enzyme that many people are often deficient in. This enzyme is important in ridding the body of free radicals. Other health issues such as arthritis, prostate problems, corneal ulcers, and inflammatory bowel disease have been known to be helped by SOD. It also protects against oxidative stress.
  • The juice has the same antiscorbutic value as orange juice.
  • It is also effective for respiratory complaints.
  • The juice is used in Ayurveda as a cardiotonic, aphrodisiac, antipyretic, antidiabetic, cerebral and gastrointestinal tonic.
  • The juice also contains polyphenols which have anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-allergenic properties. They can help to lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, diminish risks of cancer, and aid in immune system health.
  • Two important tannins found in gooseberry juice are ellagic acid and gallic acid. Ellagic acid has been shown to be effective against cancer causing chemicals and aid in the death of cancer cells. Gallic acid is another anti-oxidant and is important in helping to treat diabetes.
  • The juice is popularly used in inks, dyes, shampoos and hair oils.
  • For insomnia: Take a mixture of coarse powder of nutmeg and fresh amla (gooseberry) juice.
  • The juice is a natural anti-inflammatory which soothes and protects the tissues of the digestive tract.

From a Guy's Diary : For those on hunting spree- Read through :)

What not to do when you are desperate about having a girl friend !!

My target readers
§  If      you are a guy, and still single....welcome to the club. Read this very seriously.
§  If      you are a guy, not single then reading this is not worth your time.
§  If      you are a girl ------------------------Have a nice laugh ;)

 Awesome Facts….

On a random day, at a random place you come across a random girl and you get an instant feeling that she is the "one" for you. In the next few mins of talk, the inevitable question comes up "Are you on Facebook?"...Now that's the beginning. You take her email ID, flick her chat ID from Facebook and start loading her inbox with messages, forwards, funny mails, quotes etc. You are always online for her and the moment she comes online the question pops up on her window, "Hey hi, wass up?" You always go to places where there is a chance of seeing her. You try to run in to her and pretend that it was accidental. You wear nice dresses and try to look good on the days when there is a high probability of meeting her. After that you take her phone number and start calling her every day. For the first few days she picks up the phone, then slowly she starts giving the busy tone and the next stage is total avoidance. But, you always believe that she is interested in you or at least you don't want to accept the truth. For some of you the big day comes when you express your feelings to her and you don't even have to wait for her reply, it is generally, "I did not see you in that way, can we be just friends?". Some don't even reach that stage, they hide their feelings, but in either case one thing is common, the girl's name ends up being the password for the next few months.

As soon as they realize that they have reached the "age", guys start trying to impress girls. Some try to show-off that they are smart and some have this weird belief that girls consider stupid guys as cute. Intelligence to innocence, being introvert to extrovert, being classy to messy, strong to weak... anything and everything, every guy has own strategy. I don't know who came up with this quote "Everything is fair in love and war", he (not she) must probably have been one of them. I don't know why guys fail to understand that girls are smart enough to understand all these and why would not they? Even before they realize that they are "girls", guys start hitting on them, one after the other, day and night, not allowing them even to breathe properly.

After reading till here some of you might be in dilemma whether you are really desperate or not. It's very easy to come to a conclusion. Take a paper and answer the following questions in Yes or No

1. Whenever you see a girl walking on the road ahead of you, Do you increase your walking speed, walk past her and then turn back to see her face?
2. Do you become very conscious about what you are talking, when you are around with girls?
3. Do you try to be cool or someone else in order to impress girls?
4. Do you think staying clam or moody when in a group makes the girl think about you?
5. You ask a girl to join you for lunch or coffee; do you think a YES from other side is an indication that she is interested in you?
6. Do you keep staring at girls?
7. Are you ready to date a girl even if she is around with someone else as well?
8. Is "Girls" the main topic of all your discussions with your friends?

If you find even a single "YES" in the paper then YOU ARE DESPERATE. Be a man, accept it.

Now the real question "What not to do when you are desperate about having a girl friend?"
Did you actually believe that I would come up with some solution or tips? Had I known it, would I be still single? It was just a trick to make you guys read this one. But, I have one tip though, first and foremost STOP being desperate. I know that it is difficult. At least try not to show that you are desperate. The rule is simple, "No one in this world cares for a thing that is easily gettable" and FYI girls are never worried about finding a guy and why do they have to? Did you ever come across a girl who never had a BF or never been proposed by a guy? If yes, then that's a miracle, you met a rare species or an extinct one in this world.

If you got the tip that you wanted and don't want to read any further it's fine. But, I would recommend reading further. Trust me, keep reading.

We know that we are the ones who make the girls realize that they are important, treat them as if they are precious, tell them that they are beautiful and show that they are in demand. We buy them gifts, spend all the money we have, do their work, roam around with them all the time, carry their stuff and in the end what do we get in return? a few thanks and an offer to be a good friend. Do we need all this? If 1/1000 th of the time wasted on a girl is spent on a guy you will find a friend for a lifetime. Just play some game together or watch a movie, give him a cigarette or buy him a drink and that is it. Realize that spending a night with your friends drinking till everyone pukes, having a hangover throughout the next day is more fun than spending the same night with your girl in a pub buying her drinks, talking crap, listening crap, making some crap moves..... What ever.

I know that at some point of time in your life you might have realized all this. But, there is a need to educate the rest and also pass on the message to the future generations. I dream of a day when guys are in demand and girls start worrying about finding a guy. I hope the day comes soon.

If you are still desperate, you need a second read.

Success breeds Succes

'Please read' this, its meaningful...
"Success breeds Success"

There was a farmer who grew superior quality and award-winning corn. Each year he entered his corn in the state fair where it won honor and prizes.

One year a newspaper reporter interviewed him and learnt something interesting about how he grew it. The reporter discovered that the farmer shared his seed corn with his neighbours''.

"How can you afford to share your best seed corn with your neighbors when they are entering corn in competition with yours each year?" the reporter asked.

"Why sir, "said the farmer, "didn't you know? The wind picks up pollen from the ripening corn and swirls it from field to field. If my neighbours grow inferior, sub-standard and poor quality corn, cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn.
If I am to grow good corn, I must help my neighbors grow good corn." The farmer gave a superb insight into the connectedness of life. His corn cannot improve unless his neighbours' corn also improves. So it is in the other dimensions!

Those who choose to be at harmony must help their neighbours and colleagues to be at peace. Those who choose to live well must help others to live well. The value of a life is measured by the lives it touches….

SUCCESS DOES NOT HAPPEN IN ISOLATION. IT IS VERY OFTEN A PARTICIPATIVE AND COLLECTIVE PROCESS.
So share the good practices, ideas, new learning with your family, friends, team members and neighbours….
As they say,
"Success breeds Success".

This is worth giving 5 min...............

Trust is Importanteg for Every Relationship
CREATING PERFECT RELATIONSHIPS?

A person visited the government matchmaker for marriage, SDU, and requested "I am looking for a spouse. Please help me to find a suitable one." The SDU officer said, "Your requirements, please." "Oh, good looking, polite, humorous, sporty, knowledgeable, good in singing and dancing. Willing to accompany me the whole day at home during my leisure hour, if I don't go out. Telling me interesting stories when I need companion for conversation and be silent when I want to rest." The officer listened carefully and replied, "I understand you need television.."

There is a saying that a perfect match can only be found between a blind wife and a deaf husband, because the blind wife cannot see the faults of the husband and the deaf husband cannot hear the nagging of the wife. Many couples are blind and deaf at the courting stage and dream of perpetual perfect relationship. Unfortunately, when the excitement of love wears off, they wake up a and discover that marriage is not a bed of roses. The nightmare begins.

Frequently exchanging these remarks plants the seed for a bad relationship. It's like a broken egg - cannot be reversed.

PERSONAL PERCEPTION

Different people have different perception. One man's meat could be another man's poison. A couple bought a donkey from the market. On the way home, a boy commented, "Very stupid. Why neither of them rides on the donkey? "Upon hearing that, the husband let the wife ride on the donkey. He walked besides them. Later, an old man saw it and commented, "The husband is the head of family. How can the wife ride on the donkey while the husband is on foot?" Hearing this, the wife quickly got down and let the husband ride on the donkey.

Further on the way home, they met an old Lady. She commented, "How can the man ride on the donkey but let the wife walk. He is no gentleman."
The husband thus quickly asked the wife to join him on the donkey. Then, they met a young man. He commented, "Poor donkey, how can you hold up the weight of two persons. They are cruel to you." Hearing that, the husband and wife immediately climbed down from the donkey and carried it on their shoulders.

It seems to be the only choice left. Later, on a narrow bridge, the donkey was frightened and struggled. They lost their balance and fell into the river. You can never have everyone praise you, nor will everyone condemn you.. Never in the past, not at present, and never will be in the future.

BE PATIENT

This is a true story which happened in the States. A man came out of his home to admire his new truck. To his puzzlement, his three-year-old son was happily hammering dents into the shiny paint of the truck. The man ran to his son, knocked him away, hammered the little boy's hands into pulp as punishment. When the father calmed down, he rushed his son to the hospital.

Although the doctor tried desperately to save the crushed bones, he finally had to amputate the fingers of both the hands of the kid. When the boy woke up from the surgery & saw his bandaged stubs, he innocently said, "Daddy, I'm sorry about your truck." Then he asked, "but when are my fingers going to grow back?" The father went home & committed suicide.

Think about this story the next time someone steps on your feet or u wish to take revenge. Think first before u lose your patience with someone u love. Trucks can be repaired.. Broken bones & hurt feelings often can't. Too often we fail to recognize the difference between the person and the performance. We forget that forgiveness is greater than revenge.
